LIBRARY TURNED OVER TO BOROUGH FORMAL DISSOLUTION OF OLD ASSOCIATION; PLEASANT PRESENTATION SURPRISE.

The final meeting of the Tenafly Library Association was held Tuesday evening of this week at the public school building. This meeting was called for the purpose of dissolving the old corporation and for turning over the property to the trustees of the Free Public Library appointed by the Mayor and Council.

Both decisions received the unanimous approval of the members present and the legal transfer was made under the direction of Mr. Vanderburg, the Borough Attorney.

Following these formalities a pleasant surprise, to at least two of the members; was sprung. It consisted of the presentation of wrist watches to Mrs A. V. Huyler and Mrs. A. J. Donally, who have had such a prominent part in the organization and conduct of the association. The presentation was made by Mr. R. S. Maugham, who in his usual happy vein, recalled the asset which the library had been to the community and which, he declared, would doubtless continue to be under the enlarged scope made possible by its increased revenue. He paid a graceful tribute to the faithful work of the two ladies mentioned and expressed his appreciation of the honor of presenting the tokens of esteem and regard from the membership. Mrs. Huy!er, in acknowledging the gifts, spoke of the pleasure it had been to work for the success of the library and expressed her appreciation of the cordial co-operation on the part of the members. The records of the last 10 months showed an average, according to Mrs. Huyler, of a thousand books loaned per month, conclusive evidence of the value of such an institution to the community. It was also announced that the sum of $285 would be turned over to the new trustees as the balance on hand.

Upon adjournment a meeting of the Trustees of the Free Public Library of the Borough of Tenafly, the new official title, was held. It was decided to retain the services of Mrs. York as librarian and to open the library on Tuesday mornings from 10 o'clock until 12:30, in addition to the regular hours now in force, which are Tuesday afternoon, Thursday afternoon and evening and Saturday afternoon.

It was also found necessary to announce that the privilege of selecting two books of fiction, which has been accorded to paying members, would have to be withdrawn, as under the new order of things, all borrowers will be treated alike.

The Borough Attorney announced that the trustees' certificate of incorporation properly signed in duplicate, had been forwarded to Trenton and that a set of by-laws was in process of preparation. The trustees in attendance were: V. E. Carroll, President; Miss L.F. Pond, Secretary, L.G. Salembier, Treasurer, and Mrs. James Westervelt.
