Callie York, first librarian, from 1910-1932. In 1920, Mrs. York became the first head librarian of the Tenafly Free Public Library. She served in that capacity until 1932 when she died of pneumonia.

Citizens were asked to public support the library with tax dollars in 1919. The official vote took place on December 29, 1919 and the library then became the Tenafly Free Public Library.
