Tenafly Library PlansPicture Book Hour For Pre-School Children

The Tenafly Public Library is planning to hold a picture book hour for pre-school children, Mrs. Ruth A. Garomon, librarian, announced this week. In accordance with this new experimental event, children, aged 3 to 5, are invited to attend the hour to be held Thursday, February 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. in the children's room of the library. Nursery rhymes and stories will be read aloud by Mrs. Garomon.

BOOK HOUR A SUCCESS

Tenafly Mrs. Ruth G. Garomon, recently appointed librarian of the Tenafly Public Library, announced today that. the Picture Book Hour held at the library recently was a great success despite inclement weather. Mrs. Garomon also announces that there was an increase of 439 in the book circulation for January over the circulation for the same period in 1949.

Children's New Program Success Library Reports

The Tenafly Librarian,Mrs. Ruth G. Garomon, announced that the experimental picture book hour for pre-school children held at the library on February 9, was a great success despite inclement weather. Books read aloud by the librarian were: Caldecott, Nursery Rhymes; Gag, Millions of Cats; Hatch, Rosamunda; Austin, Poppet. Another picture book hour will be announced in the near future. The library also reported an increase in circulation for January of 439 over January 1949.

Recent additions to the adult new book shelf include the following:

FICTION "Jubilee Trail" by Bristow, "Weep for my Brother" by Dowdey, "The Natchez Woman" by Graham, "A Few Flowers for Shiner" by Llewellyn, "The Flame Tree' by Pratt, "I, My Ancestor" by Ross, "King's Cavalier" by Shellabarger, "The Wooden Horse" by Williams.

NON-FICTION "I Leap Over the Wall" by Bald, "The Peabody Sisters of Salem" by Tharp, "Story of the Trapp Family Singers" by Trapp, "Personnel Manual for Executives" by Young, win, "How to Paint Trays" by Blanchard, "Salt-Free Diet" by Conason, "Please Pass the Hostess" by Darrow, "How to Retire to California" by Drury, "Emotional Problems of Living" by English, "In Our Image" by Harte, "Complete Canasta" by Jacoby.
