• In 1682 Bergen County was organized. Hackensack Township included this region in 1692.

• New Jersey was once called New Caesarea.

• Tenafly on Erskine map, 1776, as reproduced by the Bergen County Historical Society.

• Tenafly is Tienevly on Weatherby and Hays map, 1898.

• "Names on the Land", 1945, it is Thyne-vly, Garden Valley.

• In 1891 Volunteer Fire Department formed.

• In 1950 90.5% of registered voters voted.
