As a closing activity for the Imagine Your Story Summer Reading Program, children created chalk art on the sidewalk in front of the library. Photo of artists with their artwork as well as a close up of their artwork.
Vibhi and Tara's Chalk Art.
Vibhi (8 years) and Tara's (3 years) Chalk Art. "Vibhi and Tara tried to draw the things they like, things that are important to them. Vibhi wants to be a doctor when she grows up, hence the stethoscope, and the hospital sign. They both love dancing, ice cream, summer, school and rabbits (who live in our yard). Vibhi has spent this summer learning multiplication (hence the math theme). They are both looking forward to meeting their friends (hence the chain of kids). The tree represents our yard. The book is to show their love of reading (Vibhi is a voracious reader.) The star next to Tara's name shows the meaning of her name (Tara means star in Hindi.) And, lastly, the drawing has the girls' self-portraits too!
