TENAFLY — The Tenafly Public Library will vacate its present structure and move to the new library building at the Municipal Center opposite Washington avenue on March 4.
This long awaited announcement will be a welcome one to the entire town which has felt the urgent need for expansion for many years. Due to the nature of the specialized furniture—standard in libraries—which had to be ordered, the
transfer could not be made in conjunction with the move of the offices of the Borough Hall. Library furniture is not kept in stock as household or office furniture often
is. After bids on library furniture are received, considered by the Library Board and awarded to the low bidders, the furniture is constructed according to detailed specificantions. The allowance for construction is a full 90 days. Because of this the library move was delayed.
To facilitate the moving, the Library will close on Saturday, March 2 at noon, and will reopen in the new location on Monday, March 11.
All regular books will be stamped for a three week period prior to the move so that no books will be scheduled to be returned while the Library is closed.
New and longer hours of service will be in operation starting March 11. The following schedule is planned: Monday, Tuesday and Thrusday,9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Wednesday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m..; Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Splendid parking facilities are available directly behind the Library, approached from Riveredge road. Spaciousness and well planned working and lounge areas
inside the Library promise to provide comfortable seating accommodations for adults, young people and children. Increased hook budget and shelving mean more books for all, easily accessible.
